Youth athlete development, coached safely.

Every young athlete progresses through five belts — from fundamentals to competing to win. Each belt is earned, not aged into, so nothing is loaded before it’s ready.
Learn to move well — bodyweight control, coordination and confidence in the basics.
Learn the lifts properly, with technique coached rep by rep before load is added.
Train consistently and build real strength, work capacity and resilience.
Add speed, power and sport-specific work to perform under pressure.
Peak performance — tested, tracked and ready to compete at your highest level.
Progress is reviewed with your coach — athletes move up when they’ve shown they’re ready.
Most of the young athletes we coach won’t go professional — and that’s never been the point. What they take away lasts far longer than a season.
Getting stronger changes how a young person carries themselves — in the gym, at school and everywhere else.
Turning up, doing the work and seeing it pay off teaches habits that outlast any sport.
Setbacks and hard sessions are coached, not avoided — so they learn to handle both.
If they leave here enjoying movement and knowing how to train, they’ll keep doing it for life.
Two ways to train. Both progress through the belt system. No lock-in.
Their own individual program, coached twice a week, progressing through the movement curriculum.
Everything they need for optimal performance — more training, sport-specific work and testing along the way.
Confidence that carries beyond sport.
Hugh trained with RAD from the age of 14. He talks through what the program gave him — and where it took him.
Yes — when it’s coached properly. The evidence is clear that supervised, technique-first resistance training is safe for young athletes and reduces injury risk. Every session at RAD is run by qualified strength & conditioning coaches who know what’s appropriate at each stage.
From around 12, though it depends more on maturity and movement competency than the number. The first thing we assess is how they move — that’s what determines where they start in the belt system, not their age.
It’s our five-belt pathway from White (fundamentals) through to Black (compete to win). Each belt has movements they need to demonstrate competently before progressing. Belts are earned, not aged into — so nothing gets loaded before it’s ready.
Because a pattern learned badly gets harder to fix the stronger they get. We spend real time on how a movement looks before adding weight to it. It’s slower early on and far faster over a career.
Building the athlete over years, not a season. Speed, strength, coordination and resilience each have windows where they develop best, so the program changes as they grow rather than repeating the same block.
That’s exactly the situation we’re built for. Tell us their weekly schedule and we’ll manage the load around it — in a heavy competition block their session becomes maintenance and recovery, not more volume. Adding training without managing total load is how young athletes get hurt.
Always. Sessions are coached by qualified professionals on the floor — not a program handed over to follow alone. Someone is watching how they move every rep and adjusting on the spot.
Sport develops sport-specific skill; it doesn’t build the underlying strength, movement quality and resilience that protect them. A structured program fills those gaps so they can keep playing the sport they love.
