Physiotherapy in Ballarat, without the guesswork

Most people arrive having already tried something that didn’t stick. Usually the plan was missing, not the effort.

“It keeps coming back”

Settles for a few weeks, then returns the moment you load it again.

“I was given a sheet of exercises”

A handout and a hope, with no one checking how you’re actually moving.

“No one told me what’s wrong”

Treatment without a diagnosis, so you never know what you’re working on.

Step one · Assessment & diagnosis

First we work out what’s actually wrong.

A 60-minute initial consult — your history, how you move, what aggravates it and what you want to get back to. Long enough to find the cause rather than chase the symptom.

You leave knowing your diagnosis in plain language, a realistic timeframe, and what happens next. If we need imaging, a GP or a surgeon involved, we’ll say so and work alongside them.

What you’ll leave with
A clear diagnosisWhat’s injured, what isn’t, and what it means for you.
A realistic timeframeHow long this usually takes, and what would change that.
A plan you understandWhat we’re doing each phase, and why it’s in there.
Something to start todayNot a handout — the first steps, shown and practised.
Step two · The rehab plan

Four phases, and you always know which one you’re in

You move up when you’ve earned it — not when a set number of visits is up.

01
Settle & diagnose
Weeks 1–2

Calm the pain down and find the real cause. Hands-on work where it helps, plus the first loading that actually starts the repair.

02
Restore movement
Early phase

Rebuild range, control and confidence in the movements that hurt. You start doing normal things again without guarding.

03
Build strength
The bulk of the work

Load it properly on the performance floor until the area is stronger than it was before the injury. This is the phase most rehab skips.

Progression test: Strength within 10% side-to-side
04
Test & return
Return

Prove it holds under the demands you actually face — running, cutting, lifting, your sport or your job — then return with a plan to keep it away.

Progression test: Objective testing, not a calendar date

Ballarat physiotherapy FAQs

Do I need a referral to see a physio?

No. You can book directly with us. If you would like us to link in with other health professionals for handovers and updates, let us know and we'll reach out.

Can I claim on private health?

Yes — if you have extras cover for physiotherapy you can claim on the spot via Halth and only pay the gap.

How long is an appointment?

Initial consults are 60 minutes and follow-ups are 30 — real time to assess, treat and build your plan properly.

What should I wear?

Comfortable training gear and runners. You’ll likely move, load and be tested on the performance floor, not just on a table.

Will I actually get exercises, or just hands-on treatment?

Both, and the balance depends on your injury. Hands-on work helps settle things early, but strength is what keeps it away — so you’ll be coached through loading on our floor.

How many sessions will I need?

You’ll get an honest answer at your first visit once we know your diagnosis and goals. We’d rather set a clear plan than book you in indefinitely.

Can you liaise with my surgeon or GP?

Yes. For post-surgical rehab we work to your surgeon’s protocol and keep them updated on your testing results.

Do I have to be an athlete?

Not at all. Most of the people we treat are working, parenting and getting back to what they love — the approach is the same.
